FIBER NETWORK—ACCESS

                                                                                                                                      back to HOME PAGE

Fiber was introduced in commercial network around mid 80’s.

Deployment of optical fiber cable has enhanced  stability & reliability of access telecom network.

Fiber is being laid  in intracity network so as to cater requirement of ::

a)     voice telephone applications ( fixed analog / digital lines )

b)     mobile applications ( connecting MSC , BSC & BTS of GSM/CDMA networks )

c)      Ethernet applications

d)     Clear channel ( E1 , DS-3 bandwidth requirements )

Transport or transmission network is built up of SDH / CWDM equipments with ADM ( add drop mux ) at different locations with in ring ( METRO RING ).

All rings terminate on DXC ( DIGITAL CROSS CONNECTS ) so as to make traffic switch over from one ring to another...DXC is also connected to switch.

ADM-1 is connected to DLC/DSLAM through electrical/optical E1/T1....DLC/DSLAM is connected to subscriber via copper network ( network is deployed through-out city with this concept using various ADM locations as shown in fig. )

These fiber rings are deployed with auto protection ( self healing facility )
